.: Cyclocross - Jan 28 :.

Five brave souls battled it out against each other and the bitter cold (25 degrees) at this weekend's cyclocross race at Richard Murphy's house.

Ken McCorkle, Chris Winters, Ray Howard, Matt Joiner, and Richard Murphy raced for thirty plus minutes over the 7/10 mile course that covered everything from singletrack to grass field to a little bit of driveway.
The course was in excellent condition and will only get better as it gets broken in (no that wasn't really it in the previous post, but it WAS nice.) Several spectators even came out to enjoy the racing as Matt narrowly eked out a win against Richard. They were followed in shortly by Ray and Chris, with Ken rounding out the top five.

The next race is scheduled for Sun. Feb 11 at 2:00pm at the same location.

On the other cyclocross front, Tom Gee and Gib and Jennifer Morehead raced at the final races of the Columbia cyclocross series. I haven't seen the results yet, so you guys write in and let us know how you did.

Thanks to everyone who came out and braved the cold. I would say it was a very good turnout for the 28 degree weather. It seemed like everyone had a good time ... which made all the work to get the track ready all worth it. Hopefully as the weather warms up and the word gets around more and more people will continue to come out and ride the course. Hope to see everyone out there again on Feb 11th.
